Rohill will soon upgrade the C3 (Critical Communication Caribbean) TETRA network in the Antilles. The work to migrate the network over to the new infrastructure will begin in the first half of 2017 and is scheduled to be completed on 1 July 2017.
The network, which became operational in 2004, is operated by Critical Communication Caribbean (C3), formerly Zenitel Caribbean and serves more than 8,000 customers with mixed clear, encrypted and end-to-end encrypted communications. It uses Rohill’s TetraNode infrastructure equipment and connects Curaçao with Bonaire, Aruba, St Maarten, Anguilla, Saba and St Eustatius. The C3 TETRA network features redundancy and is designed and built operate under heavy conditions, during power failures, storms, flooding and extreme high usage.
The modernisation of the C3 TETRA Network (formerly known as the Chuchubi network) will involve the replacement of base stations’ hardware to the latest generation of TETRA carriers, as well as a complete transition to TetraNode Industrial. It will use geo-redundant TETRA switches to increase network resilience and allow the network to function should a switch location become flooded or be hit by lightning.
