Airbus has won the contract to supply a TETRA radio system for the Chongqing metro in China.
The single integrated system, which will stretch across four underground lines, will include three switch centres to support cross-line train dispatching and security. According to Airbus, this is the first project to support operations across multiple underground lines within the Chinese sector.
The company will also supply 93 TB3 base stations, as well as 2,626 TH1n and 385 TMR880i TETRA radios, and three Taira TETRA servers.
A spokesperson for Airbus said: “This order not only comes from a new customer, but also allows us to be well-positioned for potential future business in this region. The systems will offer optimal communication support for dispatching, and managing the trains, ensuring smooth and secure operations for the metro.”
Chongqing is the largest city in Southwest China, with around 18 million inhabitants. The four lines are expected to come into operation in December of this year.
