Airbus will equip the 53rd Munich Security Conference with a secure Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) network together with TETRA network operator Stadtwerke München. The event will take place on 17-19 February and will host more than 30 heads of state and government and more than 80 foreign and defense ministers.

A separate base station (TB3c) will be connected to the existing radio network of Stadtwerke München especially for this conference. It will enable mobile communication by security and conference staff as well as German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) personnel, ensuring that they can efficiently perform their support tasks. Because of the need for heightened security, the radio system will be enhanced with special encryption features.
At the same time, Stadtwerke München is once again making the Airbus TH1n (which Airbus claims is the world’s smallest TETRA radio) available to conference staff members. It is particularly suitable for covert use, and has proven its effectiveness at the Munich Security Conference for years.
Over the past years, the Munich Security Conference, initially launched in 1963, has become one of the most important conferences in the field of foreign and security policy. Each year, it provides high-ranking policy makers from all over the world with a forum for constructive discussions of current and future security challenges.
