Swan will take up the part-time role at the beginning of March next year, following his retirement from Mason Advisory, where he was one of the founding partners. He has an association with BAPCO stretching back to 1998, when he became an active member, and eventual chair of the Commercial Advisory Group. In 2005 he received the inaugural Gareth Wilkinson Memorial Award in recognition of his work and commitment to the organisation.
Speaking of the appointment, John Anthony said: “Myself and my fellow directors are delighted to appoint Duncan as British APCO's chief operating officer. With his wealth of experience in the sector and long involvement with BAPCO, we consider that the association is very fortunate to have been able to secure his services. This heralds a bright future for us.
“I am sure that all of our members will support Duncan in his new role and will take the opportunity to meet and share their views of the association with him when he takes up the role in March 2022.”
Swan said: “I am convinced that BAPCO has a healthy future ahead, and I want to ensure that we remain relevant to all of our members. The association must continue to innovate, finding new ways to help improve emergency services and public safety communications and information technology for everybody’s benefit. It must continue to be the leading UK-based association for all professionals using or developing public safety technology.”
