The information security includes several encryption-, authentication- and key management-related features, boot and runtime security checks, tamper-proof information security platform as well as a privacy mode. The latter allows the user to disable microphones, camera and Bluetooth, and the accuracy of sensors is reduced with the touch of a button. The smartphone is compatible with Bittium’s Secure Suite software solution, which enables remote device management and encrypted data transfer. It features a programmable push-to-talk/push-to-video button and an emergency button, the ability to shot 4K and full HD video and a capacitive touchscreen that can be used when wet or when using gloves.
The Bittium Tough Mobile 2 is designed and manufactured in Finland and Bittium provides its customers with supervised and secure manufacturing and supply of the smartphones. Given that it has been designed for use by government agencies, Bittium states that the device has significantly longer availability and lifespan than conventional smartphones, as well as better availability of security updates.
