Discussing the event, a spokesperson said: “The Control Room Awards recognise the talent, commitment and resilience of individuals and teams working in control rooms.
“From police, fire and ambulance services to HM Coastguard and other critical control operations, control room operators and teams across the UK serve and protect the public every day.”
This is the sixth year that the event has been run, with organisers claiming that it is the only one of its kind. The awards ceremony will take place on July 13, at the Leonardo Hotel, Hinckley Island.
The team of independent judges consist of six representatives from the UK critical communications and public safety sector. These include BAPCO trustee Darryl Keen, BAPCO COO Duncan Swan, and HM Coastguard assistant chief coastguard, Matt Leat.
British APCO, which is sponsoring the event, has its own Control Room Innovation Award, which is new for this year.
Awards co-founder Mike Isherwood said: “I would like to thank all our judges for bringing their enormous experience and expertise to the judging process, as well as the organisations they represent for supporting the awards.
“The outstanding quality of the judging panel also recognises the ever-growing profile within the emergency services sector of control room teams and colleagues, and of these awards which celebrate their vital work.
“Congratulations to all our finalists. They can look forward to the awards ceremony, which promises to be an amazing celebration of the control room community.”
