According to ETSI, the Plugtests are intended to provide a “continuous and ubiquitous environment for collaborative testing and validation activities among different organisations.” To that end, it has recently set up a remote lab for all participants, connected together via the organisation’s ‘hub for interoperability and validation’ (HIVE).
Elaborating on the purpose of the Plugtests, a spokesperson said: “ETSI is running the innovative MCX plugtests programme in order to accelerate mission critical services (MCS) adoption and interoperability. Testing sessions will also benefit from the latest ETSI specification, ETSI TS 103 564.
“Remote activities are complemented by periodic events allowing the community to meet and run intensive testing sessions face to face. In these critical times, providing a remote solution for vendors to test their equipment is vital.”
The September/October event will include initial testing for “railways-orientated capabilities” in 3GPP Release-15.
