Humberside fire service procures new control room

NEC Software Solutions has won the contract to provide Humberside Fire and Rescue Service in the UK with a new command, control and communication system. The initial contract is for seven years.

The DS3000 solution will be hosted in NEC’s data centres and accessible from Humberside’s “control room locations.” It will include live video streaming facility, as well as a mobile application for use by firefighters.

Discussing the move, an NEC spokesperson said: “[This] will give staff and call handlers the latest tools and real-time information they need to quickly dispatch fire appliances to incidents based on their proximity and capability.

“The fully integrated, cloud-based, system will provide users with the latest in control room solutions, increased user functionality and an improved user interface. The cloud-based system will also enable improved collaboration with other fire services that choose to adopt the same technology.”

Humberside chief fire officer, Phil Shillito, said: "This is a major milestone in advancing our control room capabilities, ensuring that we remain at the cutting edge of fire control technology.

“The commitment and dedication of colleagues has been instrumental in reaching this stage. We are excited to see the positive impact these new features - like 999Eye and the mobilising app - will have on both our communities and our staff."

The system is due to be fully rolled out in early 2026.
