Irish police upgrade control room

The Republic of Ireland police - An Garda Síochána – has chosen Saab’s SAFE solution to kit out its control rooms. According to the company, it will be the first deployment of the technology to a national police force.

Roll-out will begin this month, with the solution expected to go live within two years. It will operate in four control rooms across the country, helping to coordinate over 14,000 officers.

According to a spokesperson for the company, SAFE will “increase efficiency through multi-channel public contact, intelligent resource management and officer dispatch. Officers in the field can access and update incident details, as well as capture and share information via their SAFE web and mobile apps.”

Speaking of the deployment, Saab head of traffic management, Peter Engberg, said: “We are happy to welcome An Garda Síochána as the first national police force into the growing SAFE family. We look forward to working with them as they transition to our command and control platform.”
