According to the company, the work with the Telecommunications Research and Development Center (CPQD) will focus on 5G use cases, including those related to fixed wireless access, smart cities, 'Industry 4.0', and critical networks. All of these will be customised for the Brazilian market.
Speaking of the collaboration, a spokesperson for Nokia said: “Leveraging our service enablement platform - which combines the capabilities of the RIC and multi-access edge computing -, the [work] is designed to create innovative use cases at the network edge.
“These use cases utilise Nokia’s optimised AirFrame open edge server solution. This will allow CPQD to explore the potential of 5G, in order to deliver an enhanced network performance with lower energy consumption, greater reliability, and security.”
Director of solutions and consulting at CPQD, Frederico Nava, said: “This is an important collaboration that will help to shape the future of 5G networks in Brazil. We look forward to a fruitful and successful partnership, and to introducing a range of innovative 5G-based use cases to the market.”
