The contract between TC Connect and Statoil covers supply of digital radio communication solution (TETRA) and includes Rohill TetraNode systems for the infrastructure, ensuring radio coverage on the entire platform. The agreement includes both product delivery and deployment services.
Ansgar Birkeland, head of oil and gas at TC Connect, said: “This will be our twelfth offshore project with this solution and the biggest so far this year, showing the strength of our offer. We have focused on winning this agreement and look forward to delivering best-in-class solutions for secure communication to the platform. We are extremely pleased to continue our relationship with Rohill and Statoil with the supply TetraNode for the important Johan Castberg field.”
According to a Statoil press release dated 13 February, production from the oilfield (which contains recoverable resources estimated at 450 – 650 million barrels of oil equivalent), is expected to begin in the first half of 2022.
