PowerTrunk (part of the Sepura group), has won the contract to expand the Toronto Transit Commission’s TETRA network.
Work done in relation to the contract will build on the existing TETRA infrastructure, which itself was deployed by Sepura in 2013. The system currently provides voice and data services for the city’s metro, as well as above-ground for its bus and tram networks, and specialised accessible transit service.
Speaking of the contract, PowerTrunk’s Senior Vice President Sales David Torres said: "We are delighted that the Toronto Transit Commission has, once again, placed its trust in Sepura. This project will address TTC’s evolving operational requirements while making a vital contribution to the safe transportation of millions of passengers."
The first phase of the expansion has already seen PowerTrunk providing more than 1,500 hand-portable and mobile radios, with 1,000 more on the way. It will subsequently deploy a number of base stations and additional carriers to support TTC’s computer-aided dispatch and automatic vehicle location project.
