Speaking of the roll-out, a spokesperson for the company said: “The new network is configured as a modern and unified communications system that solves current shortcomings. [It will allow] the introduction of more advanced functionalities, guaranteeing service at all times and allowing immediate and efficient interoperability between the different agencies.”
In the first instance, the network will be used by a variety of organisations, including security and civil protection services, emergency health care and the Directorate General of Natural Environment and Forest Management. Other users which may be added include “public administrations and local entities.”
Network coverage will include 84 per cent of Aragonese territory, achieved via the deployment of 113 Teltronic MCBS base stations, as well as three transportable base stations. The system will also include two fully redundant control nodes.
According to Teltronic, the Aragon government will invest 10.6 million euros in its TETRA solution over a period of five years, with building taking place over the course of the first two. The network will be co-financed through the Operational Programme European Regional Development Fund Aragon 2014-2020.
