Sepura has been awarded the contract to provide around 20,000 radios to the Free State of Thuringia in Germany.

The radios will be a combination of STP9000 and STP8X hand-portables, as well as vehicle installations of SRG3900 mobiles, which will be used by non-police public safety organisations throughout the region. The contract was won by Selectric GmbH, which is Sepura's partner for public safety in the country.

Hooman Safaie, Sepura’s regional director for DACH (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) said: "We are extremely proud that our radios have been selected by Thuringia, which is a state whose communication solutions have, historically, been held by our competitors.

"This new success demonstrates the formidable strength of our partnership with Selectric. It also reflects our commitment to the German public safety market – the largest TETRA market in the world – and our determination to maintain market leadership in the country."

Hendrik Pieper, general manager of Selectric, said: “I am confident that by selecting Sepura radios the state of Thuringia has made the best choice for its digital communications.”

According to the company, Thuringia is the eleventh of sixteen German states to opt for Sepura TETRA solutions.
