Spanish first responders ride the WAVE

Spanish comms company Telecom CLM has deployed Motorola Solutions’ Dimetra X core digital TETRA infrastructure for first responders in Castilla-La Mancha.

According to Motorola, transition to the new network was completed “in a fast and seamless process,” allowing users across the region to “benefit from a robust, feature-rich network overnight.”

The new system includes WAVE, an interoperability solution extending push-to-talk across numerous platforms including radio, broadband networks and smartphones. Users will include the police, paramedics and fire fighters, as well forestry agencies, factories and refineries.

General manager of Telecom CLM Wenceslao Sanchez said: “When we sought to replace the regional radio communication network we had in mind two criteria - get the latest and greatest, and find a credible technology partner that will give us the right technology and support.

“With Motorola Solutions we also got two added bonuses. [We could] take advantage of their expertise in critical communications, and the [opportunity] to grow as an operator.”

Phil Jefferson, vice president Western Europe and North Africa, ‎Motorola Solutions said: “We’re excited to see Telecom CLM recognise our one-stop-shop quality, cleverly leveraging it to fulfill their critical communication needs.”
