According to the company, the components of the solution included two base stations (TB3c and TB3hp) located at the Bayerischer Hof convention centre in central Munich, with a third placed in the vicinity of the airport. A fourth meanwhile was located in the plenary hall of the Bavarian parliament during the ceremony for the John McCain Award, which is presented for academic achievement in the field.
The system was used by around 120 personnel, who were responsible for organising the conference, as well as protecting its visitors, who were from the fields of “international politics, business and media”. Handheld devices included the company’s broadband/TETRA hybrid Tactilon Dabat, and narrowband radio TH1n.
Speaking of the roll out, Benedikt Franke, the conference’s chief operating officer said: “Since 2012, Airbus has served us with highly reliable mobile communications services. Consequently, we have decided to extend the contract with the company until the year 2021 to support our yearly conference in Munich.”
The Munich Security Conference – which saw its 55th iteration this year – was originally launched in 1963.
