Belgian secure radio communications operator ASTRID has received government approval for a €117 million investment in improvements to the network infrastructure.
The management and investment plan, which will be in place until 2020, was signed off by the Belgian government and ASTRID’s Administrative Council in December of last year. The investment is intended to safeguard the network’s capacity as well as its reliability.
ASTRID is a customer of Airbus. The company’s head of secure land communications Olivier Koczan, said: “Based on close and trustful cooperation in the past, ASTRID and Airbus continue to work together to achieve the best outcome for end users in Belgium.”
More than 50,000 users communicate securely via the ASTRID TETRA network, including the Belgian emergency services as well as several utility and transport companies.
