Sepura has supplied, installed and commissioned a TETRA system for the public transport network of Pasto Municipality, Colombia, as part of an initiative to equip the country’s major cities with integrated public transportation systems.
The project was awarded by LG CNS on behalf of Avante SEPT and comprises Nebula TETRA infrastructure, a fleet management and control centre and more than 550 mobile and portable radios. It is part of a network-wide fleet control and management system, designed to optimise service and reduce traveling and waiting times.
As well as managing communication between all staff on the network, it provides near-real-time information – such as location, alarms or events. Sepura states that this in conjunction with an intelligent transportation system “allows the redeployment of resources to minimise delays, as well as providing up-to-date passenger information via the passenger information system.
“We are delighted to contribute to the efficient running of Pasto Municipality’s public transport network. This solution will boost operational efficiency and significantly enhance the overall passenger experience,” said Jairo Gómez, Sepura’s country manager for Colombia.
“TETRA is just taking off in Colombia, and of the eight contracts awarded to date, we have been selected to participate in six. This reaffirms our market-leading position not only in this territory, but in the provision of critical communications worldwide.”
