Discussing the rationale for this, federal deputy chairman of the GdP, Alexander Poitz, said: “High-performance and future-proof mission-critical communication systems are of utmost importance for guaranteeing internal security in Germany.
“For this reason, we want to support the work of the PMeV as an alliance of providers and users of mission-critical communication systems and contribute our knowledge and experience from the perspective of a user organisation.”
PMeV board of management chairman, Bernhard Klinger, said: “We are very pleased that the police trade union is now a member of our association. [It represents] one of the largest and most important user groups of mission-critical communications systems.
“We are confident that this cooperation will provide us with strong impulses from the user perspective regarding the further development of secure and highly reliable communication in Germany.”
The PMeV describes itself as consisting of “leading suppliers and users of communication systems and solutions for mission- and business-critical mobile communication.”
The GdP, meanwhile, represents the “occupational, societal, economic, ecological, social and cultural interests of the entire workforce - and former employees - of the police.” It has more than 210.000 members across Germany.
