German public safety agency deploys TETRA paging

The Bavarian Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) is rolling out 6,000 Motorola Solutions two-way TETRA pagers for its first responders.

According to a statement, the pagers boast “a lightweight but rugged design” as well as IP54 certification, 48-hour battery life, and optional GPS tracking.

The agency is responsible for the German federal government’s technical/logistics operations, including providing assistance after storms and floods. It also carries out emergency repairs, and communications for large-scale operations.

During the Coronavirus, THW has set up mobile stations for medical tests and supported the Federal Police in border controls.

Speaking of the roll-out, Motorola country manager for Germany Axel Kukuk, said: “The requirements for first responders - including the Agency for Technical Relief - are constantly increasing. Fast and reliable alerting and responding is of crucial importance.

“We are pleased that with our digital pager, THW will be able to communicate even more efficiently in the future, helping to protect the citizens of the federal state.”

The agency also uses Motorola’s Integrated Terminal Management solution, which automates processes such as software upgrades.
