In line with its principles of social responsibility, Minera Yanacocha S.R.L, South America’s largest gold mine, is procuring a TETRA communication system for donation to the Peruvian national police force.
Along with the police, it will be used by other public safety organizations in the city of Cajamarca (pictured below). The outdated emergency call center (105) will also be modernized and replaced with a highly modern emergency call and control center to provide the people of the historic city of Cajamarca and its visitors with a faster, more reliable emergency service at any time of the day or night.

Along with these measures, the city will also be equipped with a web-based AVL system for vehicle location and monitoring. The proven TETRA radios from Hytera will also be used in the city. Along with 100 PT580H handheld radios, 21 MT680 Plus mobile radios form part of the modernization program.

Minera Yanacocha is in the province and department of Cajamarca, around 800 km north-east of Lima, Peru.
Cajamarca is the capital of the region of the same name in the South American Andes state of Peru. In 1986 the Organization of American States declared Cajamarca to be part of the historical and cultural heritage of the American continent. In the meantime, Cajamarca is also on the UNESCO world heritage list for a possible nomination as a world heritage site.
