A statement issued by Motorola says that Kodiak will be connected via the company’s LTE network, with the possibility of “priority mechanisms.” Alongside PTT, functionality also includes push-to-video, geo location and geo-fencing.
Speaking of the technology, a spokesperson for Motorola said: “[Our] broadband PTT service is a 3GPP standards-compliant and future-ready solution that supports seamless interoperability between users on Professional Mobile Radio systems as well as 5G, 4G and 3G cellular networks.”
Telia CTO Staffan Akesson said: “Motorola Solutions’ mission-critical broadband PTT service will allow our customers to take advantage of two-way radio communication and broadband technologies over our infrastructure. We are committed to providing reliability to our customers, alongside the highest quality of service especially as this technology is crucial in mission-critical situations.”
The Telia contract follows similar agreements between Motorola and other European providers KPN and SFR. It represents the first carrier-integrated mission critical broadband solution to be powered by Motorola rolled out in the Nordics.
