The report was commissioned by the UK Home Office Fire Directorate, and is supported by the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP). The research, which is titled ‘Information and Communication Technologies in the Fire and Rescue Services in England,’ was led by Professor David Allen of Leeds University Business School.
Speaking in a statement, a spokesperson said: “Whilst this in-depth report is focused on fire and rescue services in England, its findings will be of interest to any organisations around the world involved in a critical communications project or intending to migrate to a broadband-based system.
“In addition to examining factors relating to ICT in English FRSs, the report examines attitudes and preparations in relation to ESMCP. Similar research into policing was undertaken by Leeds University Business School in 2016.”
BAPCO and TCCA are holding a webinar to complement the publication of the report, during which Professor Allen will present key findings and recommendations. He will be joined by deputy director of ESMCP Steve Whatson, as well as Ian Taylor from the UK National Fire Chiefs Council.
