NEC Software Solutions is demonstrating its mobile app Fire Survival Guidance at this year’s BAPCO Annual Event in Coventry. The company refers to the solution as its “latest innovation to support the coordination of fire survival guidance between fire control and the fire ground.”

According to NEC, the app synchronises with mobilising systems to provide information in real time. This includes: “a consistent view of the status of incidents within the building, conditions, the number of people in each location/any vulnerabilities, guidance that they have been provided, and deployment status.”

The solution is designed for use by incident commanders, as well as other agencies which might be involved.

Discussing the technology, a spokesperson for the company said: “When fire services are managing major incidents involving multiple persons at risk, clear communication between the incident commander at the scene, fire control and the other agencies is critical.

“[At the same time], when members of public in the building contact the fire service or other agencies, there needs to be a clear understanding of the situation and what advice should be given."

The spokesperson continued: “With real-time two-way updates, NEC Fire Survival Guidance delivers a single source of data visible to all involved. This ensures consistent, up to date guidance is provided to persons at risk by which ever agency is contacted.

“This reduces burden on voice traffic to provide updates, providing updated information to support data-driven decision making.”
