Simoco Wireless Solutions is building an island-wide Tier III DMR-based network for the Jamaica Public Service, the country's only distributor of electricity.
According to Simoco, the project will see JPS transition from its existing analog network to Simoco Xd, covering over 25 sites across the island. The company will deploy its 700 Series portable radios, iPulse AIR Pro data modems, alongside microwave backhaul communication services.
Speaking of the deployment, Simoco VP Gary Correia said: “This new robust network will enable JPS to communicate seamlessly and with flexibility across the entire Island.
"The Simoco Xd network will also serve as the perfect backbone for further data communication services, providing JPS with the ability to unify its mission critical voice and data transmissions across one network.”
